You are cordially invited to attend the Asia Offshore Association (AOA) Bangkok Conference at The Oriental in Bangkok from 22nd -24th March 2009.

Our first night extravaganza will be held at the Rim Thai riverside restaurant at The Oriental and sponsored by the Labuan IBFC.  If you like Thai food, then make sure you arrive early and stay late for the sumptuous local delights prepared by some of Thailand’s best chefs! 

The following morning will entice us from our comfortable beds with Mike Grover, Tax Specialist, Labuan IBFC who is our Keynote Speaker, discussing the essential role of double taxation treaties in international tax planning.  Executive Committee Member, Michael Doyle, Partner, Seri Manop & Doyle (www.serimanop.com) will update delegates on the latest Thailand business law issues facing foreign investors. Closely following on Mike’s comments will be Global Advisory Committee Member, Gabor Szabo, Partner, Dr. Gabor Szabo & Partners (www.offshorg.com) discussing some of the cutting edge European tax issues.  Patrick Trainor, General Manager, Asiaciti Trust (www.asiaciti.com) will discuss the new LLC legislation in the Cook Islands and mutual funds legislation in Samoa. We will end the day with and are especially delighted to have Dennis Meseroll, Director, Tractus Asia, offering delegates the good, bad and ugly about doing business in Thailand.

Our second night of fun will include a local boat ride down the Chao Praya River for a cocktail at Chakrabongse Villas, which is a stunning edifice perched on the banks of Thailand’s most famous waterway.

On Tuesday, we will learn about intriguing global intellectual property issues from Franck Fougere, Director, Vidon & Partners (Thailand) (www.vidon.com). Howard Fisher, Partner, The Law Offices of Howard S. Fisher (www.howardsfisher.com) will parachute into Bangkok from Beverly Hills to enlighten delegates regarding pressing international tax issues and aggressive government action.  Executive Committee Member, Peter Tay, Director, Mossack & Fonseca Singapore (www.mossfon.com) will address the latest developments in private wealth in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.  Our last speaker, Kevin Whitcraft, Director, The RMAsia Group of Companies (www.rmasia.net), will offer some unique insights of a foreigner working, doing business in and basically living the life in IndoChina.

There will be afternoon Speakers' Corner sessions and all day sponsor exhibition tables as well as tantalizing local lunches that will highlight the local tastes of Thailand!

In true AOA fashion, we are delighted to be supporting the Goodwill Group (www.goodwillbangkok.org), which teaches English and computer skills to disadvantaged women and employed in a variety of low-paying jobs in Bangkok. Please remember to spend some time with the AOA Ambassador, who will join us form The Goodwill Group where doing good work for these young women is a daily challenge.  We are privileged to be able to support their efforts in March!!!

Finally and in true AOA fashion, we have confirmed with The Oriental and the Chakrabongse Villas that our delegates may don shorts and polo shirts (no sandals) for each cocktail event to ensure you do not melt in the warm and humid Bangkok evenings!
